After arriving to the pub at 10pm my partner and I were immediately ask to provide ID (before even being able to order my water). My partner provided his government provided Citizenship ID card (he is unable to get a driver's provisional due to poor eyesight) she then took his ID to her manager only to return and demand to see other form of ID as according to her and her manager this form of ID is not accepted by their licences and we need to provide "valid" ID in order to stay. I advised that this was government issued and a form of valid ID which according to the government website "CitizenCards are official UK ID / proof of age cards recognised by the Home Office and almost all UK retailers and public transport providers including UK airlines. In short, you can use the identity card in shops, bars, pubs, clubs and cinemas across the UK. The adult 18+ photo ID card displays POLICE and SECURITY INDUSTRY logos and all CitizenCards bear the PASS hologram." We then had to leave as he only has 1 form of ID. She refused to serve me some water also. All and all, the bar tender was rude, failed to understand basic laws and licences (I have worked at a pub which have similar licences and nowhere does it state that Government Citizenship card is not accepted) and I would not suggest anyone who is unable to get a driver's licence due to medical or personal choices ever goes here as you will be turned away.
New management. So different now. It's really welcoming and friendly. Food delicious
When to the orchard today what a great place the staff are amazing .the food was 10 out of 10. well done to all staff great experience will be back again.
Food was really lovely and generous portions. I'm glad the background music was set at a very low volune. Sadly the Wainwright beer didn't taste very nice and thought it was sour. The manageress was very nice about it and allowed us to try a different one.
A really lovely place whether to just have a drink or to go for dinner.Food is reasonably priced and the portions are more than ample; the quality of the meals is definitely more than I'd expect from a chain pub.Staff are always on hand and have been courteous and helpful every time I've dealt with them.Overall an excellent choice.
